Its major function is to filter blood, producing hormones, activating vitamin D, controlling blood pressure, removing toxins and waste products from the body, controlling water balance, acid-base balance, electrolyte balance, secretion of compounds, etc. If kidneys are unable to perform these functions effectively, then there is a rise in the Creatinine level.
